Raskolnikov wakes up at 2 PM the next day and is alarmed at all the evidence he left lying around for anyone to find if they came to see him. He stuffs the purse and trinkets he stole into a hole behind some loose wallpaper. Then he searches himself and finds traces of blood on the frayed edge of his trousers, the lining of his pocket where the purse was, and one of his socks. 2.2
On his way home Raskolnikov becomes convinced that while he has been at the station, they have sent someone to search his room. But everything is as he left it. He decides to fling the stolen trinkets and things into the canal and have done with it. For a change, he actually leaves the house! ( Chug. )
