Whatever happened to those scrolly things they used to have on buses? You know what I mean. They were black oblong screens (really more of a matrix of lightbulbs, but whatever) and red pixelly text would scroll across, advertising various local Things, an d you could read them from your seat. I remember them from my childhood but somehow they no longer seem to exist on modern buses. Why did they do away with them? They were entertaining.
I know what happened to one of them: it's been relocated to the front window of the creepy men's clothing store on Washington Street, above the creepy head of one of the creepy mannequins. It's one of the rare breed that had red lightbulbs at the top, then a brief band of orange-yellow, then green at the bottom, and it scrolls messages about how they are a good clothing store, and they swear to God their mannequins won't eat you.
